Hydraulic presses sometimes fail to build up pressure for several reasons:
1. Common operational errors, such as incorrect three-phase power connection, insufficient oil in the tank, or failure to adjust the pressure regulating valve. These issues typically occur when beginners first use the press.
2. Insufficient power, commonly seen in older machines due to pump wear, motor aging, or other power-related issues. You can check the pump's condition by feeling the suction force while the machine is in operation. If the suction force is strong, the pump is likely fine; otherwise, it may need attention. Motor aging, although rare, can be identified by loud noises and a decreased ability to generate power.
3. Oil leakage, which can be detected by inspecting the machine for visible signs of leakage. If there are none, it might indicate damage to the piston's oil seal.
4. Faulty or clogged hydraulic valves, or internal springs obstructed by impurities preventing proper resetting, can also cause pressure build-up issues. If it's a manual directional valve, you can try disassembling and cleaning it.
5. A malfunctioning hydraulic gauge may also be the culprit, requiring replacement.
When using a small hydraulic press with a triple screw pump, pay attention to the following:
(1) Triple screw pumps used in machine tool hydraulic transmission systems mostly use No. 20 or No. 40 hydraulic oil, with a viscosity range of 17~43 mm²/s (<50℃).
(2) The oil used in triple screw pumps should not contain hard solid particles (such as iron scraps) or corrosive liquids. If necessary, stainless steel screw pumps can be selected.
(3) Before the first test run of the triple screw pump, fill the oil at the oil discharge port to ensure that the pump is lubricated. Then, open the safety valve to prevent damage due to dry friction when the pump starts.
(4) The rotation direction of the triple screw pump should be the same as indicated on the pump body, and reverse rotation is not allowed.
Maintenance of the triple screw pump:
(1) To protect the pump's safety, a safety valve (relief valve) and pressure gauge must be installed on the pump's oil pressure pipeline. Before starting for the first time, open the safety valve to prevent damage to the pressure gauge.
(2) If the pump is not used for a long time, it should be sealed with oil. If it needs to be stored, anti-rust oil should be applied inside the pump, and the suction and discharge ports should be sealed with plugs to prevent dust from entering the pump.
(3) The key at the pump shaft end should be installed together with the shaft and wrapped to prevent loss.
