According to their purpose:
(1) Manual hydraulic press: generally small hydraulic presses used for pressing and assembling processes;
(2) Forging hydraulic press: used for free forging, steel ingot blooming, and non-ferrous and ferrous metal die forging;
(3) Stamping hydraulic press: used for various sheet metal stamping, such as stamping forming of various metal sheets, including blanking, punching, stretching, bending, turning over, and precision blanking;
(4) Calibration and assembly hydraulic press: used for part calibration and assembly;
(5) Laminating hydraulic press: used for pressing plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, and insulation board, with a large stroke, multiple layers, large layer spacing, and able to press a larger number of boards;
(6) Extrusion hydraulic press: used for extruding various non-ferrous and ferrous metal wires, pipes, rods, and profiles;
(7) Compression hydraulic press: used for powder metallurgy and plastic product pressing forming, such as powder product hydraulic press, isostatic hydraulic press, magnetic material hydraulic press, abrasive product hydraulic press, diamond hydraulic press, etc;
(8) Baling and block hydraulic press: used for compacting metal chips into blocks and baling, etc.
According to the action mode:
(1) Upward hydraulic press: the working cylinder of this type of hydraulic press is installed on the upper part of the machine body, making operation convenient, easy to achieve fast downward movement, and the most widely used;
(2) Downward hydraulic press: the working cylinder of this type of hydraulic press is mounted on the lower part of the machine body, with a lower center of gravity, good stability, and the products can avoid oil leakage and contamination;
(3) Double-action hydraulic press: the upper movable crossbeam is divided into inner and outer slide blocks, which are driven by different hydraulic cylinders, and the pressure is the sum of the pressures of the inner and outer slide blocks. The working mode is flexible and suitable for deep drawing of metal sheets, widely used in the automotive manufacturing industry;
(4) Special hydraulic presses: such as angle hydraulic presses, horizontal hydraulic presses, etc.
According to the machine body structure:
(1) Pillar type hydraulic press: the connection between the upper crossbeam and the lower crossbeam (working table) of the hydraulic press uses pillars, with forms such as four columns, double columns, single columns, etc. Hydraulic presses with higher pressure are mostly of the four-column structure, which has good stability and lighting;
(2) Integral frame hydraulic press: the body is made of cast or welded steel, generally with a hollow box-shaped structure, good bending resistance performance, the pillar part is made into a rectangular cross-section, convenient for installing flat adjustable guiding devices, the movement accuracy of the movable crossbeam is high, widely used in plastic products, powder metallurgy, and thin plate stamping hydraulic presses.
According to the transmission form:
(1) Pump direct transmission hydraulic press: each hydraulic press is equipped with a high-pressure pump separately, and this form is mostly used in small and medium-sized hydraulic presses;
(2) Pump accumulator transmission hydraulic press: high-pressure liquid is supplied centrally, which can save costs and improve the utilization rate of hydraulic equipment, but requires high-pressure accumulators and a set of central pressure supply system to balance the need for high-pressure liquid under low load and load peaks, which is more feasible when using multiple hydraulic presses (especially multiple large and medium-sized hydraulic presses).
There are also other classifications based on working medium (water pressure, oil pressure), operation mode (manual, semi-automatic, fully automatic), and tonnage (100T, 500T, etc.).
